Atlantic City Safe Streets for All (SS4A)

Safety Action Plan

An ambitious initiative to reduce crashes and make our streets safer for residents and visitors, regardless of how they travel.

The SS4A Safety Action Plan is a prerequisite to applying for implementation funds. The Bipartisan Infrastructure Law established the Safe Streets for All Program with $5 billion in appropriated funds over five years.

Mission of the project

Atlantic City is currently developing a Safe Streets 4 All (SS4A) Safety Action Plan (SAP). The purpose of this plan is to identify roadway safety issues, prioritize safety projects, and recommend future street safety initiatives. The Safety Action Plan will establish a practicable strategy to achieve our city’s committed goal of zero serious injuries and fatalities on Atlantic City streets. The Plan will be informed by a thorough analysis of crash, demographic, and roadway data to identify areas of need and equitably develop safety recommendations throughout Atlantic City. The Plan will be further informed by partnerships established with the public, stakeholders, and a Steering Advisory Committee. Throughout the development of the SAP, the project team will communicate data and findings to these groups and solicit feedback to collaboratively develop street improvement projects intended to meaningfully reduce crashes and create safer conditions for those who live in, work in, and visit Atlantic City.

About Safe Streets for All

Safe Streets and Roads for All (SS4A) is a discretionary program established by the 2021 Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA) to fund regional, local, and tribal initiatives through grants to prevent roadway deaths and serious injuries. The SS4A program supports the development of comprehensive safety action plans (Action Plans) that identify a community’s most significant roadway safety concerns and guide the implementation of projects and strategies to address these roadway safety issues. Atlantic City’s Safety Action Plan fulfills the requirements of the SS4A program by identifying and addressing significant roadway safety concerns within the community.

ATLANTIC CITY SAFETY ACTION PLAN (SS4A)

The Atlantic City Safety Action Plan serves as a guiding model for the City’s approach to transportation safety, one that is data-driven and collaborative, to provide safer streets for residents and visitors.
